Cyclone Montha has formed over the Bay of Bengal and is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by October 28. According to the IMD, it will make landfall near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds at speeds of 90–100 kmph. Odisha’s southern districts — Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Kandhamal — have been placed under a red alert.
