The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that Cyclone Montha is very likely to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm by the morning of 28 October 2025.
The system is located over the southeast Bay of Bengal and is projected to move north-northwestwards, heading towards the east coast of India.
The forecasted landfall zone is between Machilipatnam and Kakinada (in coastal Andhra Pradesh) on or around the evening/night of 28 October. Alerts have been issued for multiple states: Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha among them.
