A deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal has intensified and is moving northwestwards at a speed of around 10 kmph. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is expected to transform into a severe cyclonic storm named ‘Montha’ by the morning of October 28. It is likely to make landfall between Kakinada and Machilipatnam–Kalingapatnam along the Andhra coast by evening or night.
